Welcome back.
Have you been for your blood test yet? Good job if you have and if you haven't done so yet make time, it really is important.
Previously we talked about writing a list of symptoms. If you have already been to your doctor you may not have been able to identify any symptoms on the spot so it is important that you record your symptoms as they occur or when you recall them. What you need to do is to write a comprehensive list. So do your homework and write down what ails you.
Write the heading Symptoms, and under this heading write down everything that is bothering you health wise. We will get to the other 'stuff' later.
Lets start with how you feel when you wake up in the morning on a scale from 1 to 10. 1 being awful, no energy, can hardly get out of bed and 10 being great - bouncing out of bed feeling really energised. This isn't a competition so don't write 10 if you feel like a 6. Remember you want to get back to a ten so you need to work out what is making you feel this way.
Some of you may be wondering why you need to compile a list of symptoms if you already have your blood results. Some times your symptoms can identify short comings in your diet that can be easily fixed. So work with me here.
Now write down your aches and pains working your way down your body and write down associated complaints.
Lets start with the head. Do you suffer headaches, forgetfulness, brain fog, dizziness, eye strain, sinus, allergies, skin condition on your scalp or face. Hair loss from scalp or eyebrows, anxiety, depression, panic attacks.
Neck and throat: stiffness or restricted movement, difficulty swallowing.
Shoulders: stiff, sore, old injuries bothering you, arthritic pain, pain on raising arms etc.
Chest: tightness in the chest, breathing difficulties, asthma, broncitis etc. Breast lumps, lumps in the arm pit, offensive body odour, changes in the skin of the breast - dimpling or puckering.
Stomach: digestive disorders - lactose intolerance, wheat/cereal intolerance, celiacs, lack of appetite, bloating, excessive belching, heart burn, stomach pain etc. Feeling sleepy or hyperactive after eating or drinking.
Digestive tract: ulcerative colitis, flatulence, constipation, diarrhoea, hemorrhoids,
Legs and feet: pain, swelling, discolouration, lumps, unusual moles, nail fungus, pain on walking or standing, numbness etc.
Sexual organs: pain, discharge, offensive odor, excessive bleeding, an absence of periods, erectile dysfunction, swelling of the lower abdomen, enlarged testis, badly ingrown hair. Pain on urination.
General: Night sweats, hot flushes, feeling cold when it is warm, overall skin complaints. General fatigue.
Basically you need to write down every symptom or item that presents a problem for you or that has suddenly appeared. I have written some things for you to prompt your memory but if there is something outside of what I have mentioned make sure you add it to your list.
Some times it is best to prepare this list of symptoms over a period of days or even a week to ensure that you include EVERYTHING that bothers you, no matter how embarrassing.
When you're done writing your list get back to me and we will move on to the next step of your path to get really well.
