Welcome back.
Have you been for your blood test yet? Good job if you have and if you haven't done so yet make time, it really is important.
Previously we talked about writing a list of symptoms. If you have already been to your doctor you may not have been able to identify any symptoms on the spot so it is important that you record your symptoms as they occur or when you recall them. What you need to do is to write a comprehensive list. So do your homework and write down what ails you.
Write the heading Symptoms, and under this heading write down everything that is bothering you health wise. We will get to the other 'stuff' later.
Lets start with how you feel when you wake up in the morning on a scale from 1 to 10. 1 being awful, no energy, can hardly get out of bed and 10 being great - bouncing out of bed feeling really energised. This isn't a competition so don't write 10 if you feel like a 6. Remember you want to get back to a ten so you need to work out what is making you feel this way.
Some of you may be wondering why you need to compile a list of symptoms if you already have your blood results. Some times your symptoms can identify short comings in your diet that can be easily fixed. So work with me here.
Now write down your aches and pains working your way down your body and write down associated complaints.
Lets start with the head. Do you suffer headaches, forgetfulness, brain fog, dizziness, eye strain, sinus, allergies, skin condition on your scalp or face. Hair loss from scalp or eyebrows, anxiety, depression, panic attacks.
Neck and throat: stiffness or restricted movement, difficulty swallowing.
Shoulders: stiff, sore, old injuries bothering you, arthritic pain, pain on raising arms etc.
Chest: tightness in the chest, breathing difficulties, asthma, broncitis etc. Breast lumps, lumps in the arm pit, offensive body odour, changes in the skin of the breast - dimpling or puckering.
Stomach: digestive disorders - lactose intolerance, wheat/cereal intolerance, celiacs, lack of appetite, bloating, excessive belching, heart burn, stomach pain etc. Feeling sleepy or hyperactive after eating or drinking.
Digestive tract: ulcerative colitis, flatulence, constipation, diarrhoea, hemorrhoids,
Legs and feet: pain, swelling, discolouration, lumps, unusual moles, nail fungus, pain on walking or standing, numbness etc.
Sexual organs: pain, discharge, offensive odor, excessive bleeding, an absence of periods, erectile dysfunction, swelling of the lower abdomen, enlarged testis, badly ingrown hair. Pain on urination.
General: Night sweats, hot flushes, feeling cold when it is warm, overall skin complaints. General fatigue.
Basically you need to write down every symptom or item that presents a problem for you or that has suddenly appeared. I have written some things for you to prompt your memory but if there is something outside of what I have mentioned make sure you add it to your list.
Some times it is best to prepare this list of symptoms over a period of days or even a week to ensure that you include EVERYTHING that bothers you, no matter how embarrassing.
When you're done writing your list get back to me and we will move on to the next step of your path to get really well.

In the Beginning ...
These days most of us move at break-neck speed. We run from work to home, to sport or shopping and socialising, and back home again. Meanwhile all the menial chores that need doing pile up. One of the chores that piles up would be our health and general well being.
The trouble with our health is that when things start to go wrong our bodies let us know and send gentle messages, most of which are ignored. For many of us, myself included, we don't act until that gentle message has become a piece of 4 x 2 (a lump of wood) that well and truly gets our attention. The nudge becomes a shove.
So one morning you wake up and realise that not only do you feel awful but you look awful too and no amount of sleep, caffine, nicotine or even a blast with cold water at the end of your shower can make you feel better or energise you. It feels like you have been out clubbing solidly for the last 2 years, although if you had been clubbing you might be tired but at least you had fun right? And if you are being honest with yourself you have been feeling pretty lackluster for quite some time.
The question here is are you just suffering a case of good old fashion neglect and abuse brought on by your behavior; by this I mean specifically, poor diet, late nights, lack of exercise etc etc. Or is there something else going on that could probably be easily fixed with a little TLC?
Think of your body as a house plant, one that needs regular care and attention, you know, watering, feeding with special plant food, sunlight periodically and even a trip outside on the odd occasion.
If, on the other hand you have been doing your best to take care of everything including your health and you still feel generally unwell, it may be time to take some action. You need to sit down and write a list of your symptoms and probably get a blood test to find out just what ails you.
For some, the hardest part is actually making the appointment to have the blood test done; I know it was for me. In fact you should probably have a full check up, if you have time, or the quick once over, you know blood pressure, heart rate and full blood test. You will be glad you did. Most people are afraid of their results but for most it is usually just a few lifestyle adjustments and a vitamin deficiency.
You deserve good health. Now off you go and get that blood test. I'll see you on at the next blog.

How it all started
Welcome to Get Really Well!
If I look back and am truly honest with myself, I have been having minor issues with various complaints for quite some time. But like most people I tended to ignore the problems until things became unbearable.
Periodically I would seek medical advice and sometimes get the run around. This would well and truly put me off the medical profession and alas, I would suffer further until I could bear things, usually pain, no longer.
Thankfully the internet has provided me with an invaluable tool to research various subjects and individuals that enabled me to not just help myself but look for alternatives to conventional methods. It has also supplied me with channels to communicate with other like minded souls that wanted to actively take charge of their own health.
This blog has been created in the hope that it will help many of you to help yourselves and take back control of your heath and your life with a realistic approach.
Throughout this blog I will make product and service recommendations. I do this because I have used these products and or services, have had genuine success and perhaps you can benefit from these as well.
Mine is a never ending journey of discovery in a quest to feel and look not just well but Really Well. Follow me and we can get really well together.
